Woven Earth
This thesis explores intentionallity within design, and showcases the beauty and emotional impact of natural colours. Inspired by Rainbow Mountain in Peru, I created a large scale textile that displays home made earth pigments, binded with homemade soy milk. This work highlights the intersection of materiality, storytelling and the power of colour in design.
I aim to reconnect contemporary designs with ancient traditions. This textile is not just a visual experience — it is an immersive expression of colours ability to shape emotion and narrative.

Thesis Construction
Using earth pigments from all around the world, I developed a series of 11 distinct colours for this thesis project. Firstly, I prepared the fabric by soaking it in organic soymilk, which acts as a natural binder, allowing the pigments to adhere to the fibers of the fabric. Once fully dried, I then created the individual fabric dyes by using a 1:1 ratio of pigment and organic soymilk, resulting in rich, earthy tones that reflect the origins of the materials.
Here is my series of earth pigments made from 20 natural pigments, and soymilk beans from Maiwa. These samples were made to be a reference of colour for my final output.
